Wir sind auf der Suche nach Testnutzer/innen

Seit Beginn des Projekts arbeiten wir an unserem Citizen Science Portal. Mittlerweile haben wir das Portal soweit entwickelt, dass wir nun auf der Suche nach Testnutzer/innen sind. Interessierte haben dort die Möglichkeit Tiere, Pflanzen sowie die Baumgrenzen in den Alpen zu beobachten und anschließend Analysen durchzuführen. Hierfür werden neben den erwähnten Werkzeugen auch ein Lexikon, Literaturhinweise, Artikel, sowie vieles mehr zur Verfügung gestellt.

What is BAYSICS all about?

Impeding climate change and its consequences have motivated governments around the world to support adaptation and mitigation measures in hopes of minimizing risks within their own communities. Introducing new political instruments can often be difficult however, unless the public is willing to offer its full support.
In combining scientific and environmental education goals, this joint project thus seeks to create hands-on experiences for select target groups in Bavaria (e.g. people seeking outdoor recreation opportunities, people affected by pollen allergies, nature-loving citizens, students). Under the motto "Spreading Knowledge - Promoting Perception - Communicating Complexity", a citizen science platform allows participants to submit observations and visualize the effects of climate change in their own communities, all while accessing a variety of learning materials and educational tools through the website and App.
Its cooperative design and participatory approach thereby create opportunities for inquiry-based learning that educate locals about the complexity of climate change within their own backyards. Empirical, experimental and theoretical research methods from the fields of natural science, education and environmental sociology, along with modern crowdsourcing media, will be employed to attract a variety of user groups and to spread awareness about climate impacts, adaptation and protection measures.
By use of innovative, technology-driven methods, BAYSICS thus enables a broad involvement of the public in science and research.

The joint project will cooperate closely with international, national and regional stakeholder groups including schools, training institutes for teachers, NGOs, authorities and companies. BAYSICS will be available to all bayklif projects and, thanks to its open structure, will remain accessible to similar citizen-science projects in Bavaria in the long term.

The Synthesis-Information-Citizen Science Portal for Climate Change Research and Science Communication in Bavaria is composed of ten sub-projects, each of which can be assigned to one of three categories.
